Quiet freeze or looming restructuring? Sensing major anxiety lately.

It feels like we’re all holding our breath right now. Every time a calendar invite appears for a 'business update' meeting, half the office goes into a tailspin. We’ve all seen the news about the retail sector taking a hit, and it’s getting harder to ignore the lack of updates on our departmental budgets. I’ve heard whispers about potential redundancy plans coming down the pipe for Q3, but it’s all hearsay at this point. The lack of clear communication from the top is definitely starting to affect morale. When leadership stops mentioning growth and starts focusing purely on 'streamlining workflows,' it’s usually a red flag. I’ve been looking through my old onboarding documents to see what the severance policy actually looks like, which is probably a bad sign of where my head is at. Is anyone else seeing a sudden uptick in 'mandatory training' or consultants walking around the office? It feels like we’re being audited for a reason.

The silence from leadership is deafening, honestly. It’s impossible to plan anything when budgets are locked and nobody will give a straight answer about the Q3 roadmap. At this point, the rumors feel more reliable than the official 'business updates' we get. Everyone I talk to is polishing their CV just in case. If they’re planning a restructuring, they really need to rip the bandage off instead of letting us sit in this purgatory. It’s burning out the teams faster than any actual work ever could.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. Ingka has always been a bit opaque during these transition phases, and it's usually just conservative fiscal management rather than an impending disaster. It’s easy to panic when the retail sector looks shaky, but remember that internal shifts happen regularly behind the scenes. Focus on your immediate deliverables and try to tune out the hallway chatter for a bit. We’ve weathered these types of quiet periods before and usually come out the other side without major headcount impacts.
