Hey everyone, been seeing some chatter around Instacart lately, but nothing concrete about layoffs. Feels like a weird silence. My team's been told things are 'stable' but there's definitely a weird energy. Been hearing whispers about potential hiring freezes in some departments, and a lot of internal "re-alignments" that sound suspiciously like people being shuffled around or quietly pushed out. Anyone else in engineering, ops, or marketing noticing anything similar? Is this just the usual post-IPO adjustment, or is something bigger brewing? Trying to get a sense of what's really going on before I start updating my resume unnecessarily.

I've definitely felt that weird energy too, especially in the last couple of months. While no one's explicitly said 'layoffs,' the 're-alignments' have been pretty disruptive. People who were previously working on core features are now suddenly being tasked with entirely different, seemingly less critical projects. It makes you wonder what the long-term plan really is, or if there even is one beyond just keeping the lights on. The silence from leadership on hiring is also deafening.

Can confirm the vibe is off. My department got a memo about 'strategic adjustments' which basically meant a lot of familiar faces are suddenly working on very different things, and some roles that were crucial last quarter are now seemingly non-existent. They're framing it as 'efficiency' but it feels more like a preemptive move to trim headcount without the official panic of layoffs. It's making it hard to plan for the future, both for the company and for individuals.
