Just venting about the endless meetings...

Seriously, what is with the insane amount of meetings lately? It feels like half my day is spent in back-to-back Zoom calls, most of which could have been an email. I'm on the Product team, and we're constantly being pulled into meetings about strategy and 'alignment,' but nothing ever seems to actually get decided. It's all talk and no action. Maybe they're just trying to look busy, or maybe it's a tactic to make people quit instead of laying them off (saving on severance, I guess). Either way, it's incredibly frustrating and makes it impossible to get any actual work done. My productivity is in the toilet, and I'm burning out fast. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I feel your pain. I'm in Engineering, and it's the same here. Remember when we used to, you know, actually *build* things? Now it's just endless planning for planning's sake. I've started blocking off 'focus time' on my calendar just to get actual work done. It's a band-aid, not a solution, but at least I can carve out a few hours to be productive. Solidarity!

Honestly, it sounds like classic corporate bloat. Instacart scaled up *fast*, and that often leads to layers of management and process that just slow everything down. While it sucks for individual contributors, the 'alignment' song and dance is often meant to justify those leadership positions. I'd say dust off your resume, just in case. This kind of thing rarely gets better on its own.
