ICE compensation vs. WLB after the recent cuts

It’s getting harder to justify the grind here lately. Between the constant threat of layoffs and the way they handled the recent cuts in VA, the 'total rewards' package feels like a joke. They preach about being a premier financial infrastructure firm, but when things get tight, the first thing they do is slice the workforce rather than trimming the fat elsewhere. I’m starting to look at other fintech shops because I don’t think the culture here is ever going to recover. Has anyone else felt like the burnout is reaching a breaking point since October? Management seems to think we can keep the same velocity with fewer heads, but something is going to break eventually. I’m curious if anyone who survived the last round is actually planning to stick around or if the exit strategy is already in motion for most of the senior engineering staff.

The atmosphere has definitely shifted. It used to feel like a place where you could build a career, but now it’s just quarterly cost-cutting exercises and empty corporate platitudes. The 'total rewards' line is clearly just marketing fluff at this point. I’ve seen some of the best talent jump ship because the compensation no longer reflects the intensity of the workload. If you’re already looking around, don’t hesitate. There are plenty of firms that actually value their people instead of treating them like disposable line items on a spreadsheet.

I’m in the same boat. It’s frustrating to see the company focus so heavily on stock buybacks while the people doing the actual work get the axe. Management talks about innovation and resilience, but their actions during these recent rounds prove they prioritize the bottom line over any semblance of company culture. You aren't imagining the decline; the morale is at an all-time low. Trust your gut and keep networking elsewhere because loyalty here is clearly a one-way street.
