I’ve been hearing whispers about more cuts coming after the December 11th announcement. Everyone seems to be keeping their heads down and moving meetings to Zoom instead of grabbing coffee. Has anyone in R&D or Ops heard if the 157 figure is actually the final number, or is this just the first wave of a wider restructuring? The vibe in the hallways is pretty bleak right now. I’ve been here for over four years and this is the most nervous I’ve ever seen the leadership team. Trying to figure out if I should start prepping my resume or if this is just standard end-of-year house cleaning. Any insights from other sites?

The atmosphere in Sunnyvale is definitely heavy right now. People are treating every hallway conversation like it's being monitored, and the shift to Zoom for basic check-ins is a major red flag. Based on what I’ve heard from folks in Ops, 157 is likely just the initial headcount adjustment to appease the street before the next fiscal year. If you’re in a non-essential R&D project, I’d suggest updating your resume sooner rather than later. This feels like the start of a much broader consolidation effort.

I wouldn't hold your breath on those 157 spots being the end of it. The way leadership is dodging direct questions in town halls says everything you need to know. Everyone is walking on eggshells, but the consensus is that the restructuring is going to ripple through the support departments by Q1. It’s a total shift in culture compared to a year ago. Just keep your head down, do your work, and start networking outside the company immediately. Don't wait for an official announcement that isn't coming.
