Anyone else noticing hiring freezes/slowdowns at Jacobs?

So, my team has had an open req for a senior engineer for about three months now. We've interviewed a few candidates, and it seemed like we were getting close to an offer, but then suddenly, HR put everything on hold. The official word is 'reviewing headcount needs,' but it feels like a complete freeze. This isn't just my team either; I've chatted with folks in other engineering departments, and they're seeing the same thing. Open positions are staying open, and there's zero movement on new requisitions. With the recent news about the industry slowing down in general, I'm starting to get a bit worried about what this means for us long-term. Has anyone been told anything different, or are you seeing similar trends?

Yeah, I've heard similar rumblings across different divisions. My manager mentioned a temporary pause on all new requisitions, citing a need to reassess project pipelines and resource allocation for the upcoming fiscal year. Can confirm this on my end too. We had a position open for a while, and just when we thought we were making progress with a candidate, it got shut down. The explanation was vague, but the outcome is the same – no new hires for now. It's making it tough to manage workloads when teams are already stretched thin. Makes you wonder what the long-term strategy is if they're freezing hiring like this.
