Performance reviews and what they *really* mean for Jacobs employees

So, performance review season is upon us (or just finishing up, depending on your department). Normally, I'm pretty good at dissecting these things, but this year feels different at Jacobs. There's a lot of talk about 'strategic alignment' and 'future workforce needs' being thrown around during feedback sessions. It's all very corporate speak, and honestly, it feels like a preamble to something. My manager was… vague. Praised my work, but then spent a good chunk of time talking about how the company needs to adapt to 'evolving market demands.' It felt less like constructive criticism and more like setting the stage. Has anyone else gotten feedback that felt a little off this year? Or is this just standard 'new year, new Jacobs' rhetoric? I'm trying to figure out if I should be updating my resume proactively or if this is just the usual cycle. Curious to hear what others are experiencing during their reviews and if it aligns with this feeling of underlying uncertainty. Any advice on how to interpret this kind of feedback would be great.

This feels all too familiar. The 'strategic alignment' buzzwords always precede some kind of restructuring or workforce adjustments. It's less about individual performance and more about fitting a projected future mold. Try to document specific examples of your contributions and how they align with stated company goals, even the vague ones. It might not change the outcome, but it's good to have your own data if things get murky.
