Is it time to jump ship before the ship sinks?

Been at Chase for 12 years, AVP in Risk. Seeing a lot of talk about potential layoffs, and honestly, I'm tired of the uncertainty. The constant re-orgs are draining. I'm in a pretty safe role (or so I thought), but you never know. Has anyone else started quietly looking for other opportunities? I'm getting recruiter pings more often now, but I'm hesitant to leave without something solid. Is it better to be proactive or wait and see what happens? The golden handcuffs are starting to feel a little rusty. I like my team and the work, but I value stability above all else.

12 years is a long time, and burnout is real. Trust your gut. Those recruiter pings? Start exploring. No need to jump into the first thing, but seeing what's out there will give you leverage, even if you stay. Update your resume, practice interviewing, and see if those golden handcuffs are really worth it compared to the market. Better to be prepared than scrambling later.

AVP in Risk *should* be fairly secure, but you're right, the constant re-orgs are unsettling. I wouldn't panic just yet. Make sure your LinkedIn is updated, but don't broadcast you're looking. Document your accomplishments, quantify your impact. If layoffs *do* happen, you'll be ready with a solid case for staying. Weigh the risk of leaving against the potential upside of a new opportunity. Sometimes, a change is good, even without a fire under your feet.
