Is the '61 layoffs' number just the tip of the iceberg?

Seeing the report for the 61 NJ-based employees being axed on the 15th. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that's the full extent of the cuts across the firm. JPMC is notoriously good at keeping these things quiet until the paperwork hits the state databases. I’m curious if people in other states or remote roles are seeing similar trends, or if this was just a localized cleanup for the Jersey office. It’s getting hard to focus on sprint goals when every morning I check my calendar for that ominous 'Connect' meeting invite. Anyone else feeling like they’re just waiting for their number to be called? At this point, the silence from leadership is almost worse than the actual layoff news.

The number they report is almost always a fraction of the reality. JPMC loves to do these 'rolling' layoffs to avoid the massive headlines that come with a singular, firm-wide announcement. If you look at the patterns over the last few years, they prioritize keeping the stock price stable by trickling out cuts across different business units and regions. Just because it hasn't hit your specific team yet doesn't mean the restructuring isn't already planned for the next quarter. Keep your resume polished and stay alert; the official paperwork is usually the last thing to hit the news cycle.
