Just saw the news about the 541 layoffs on Aug 25th. This is getting brutal. Feels like every week there's a new wave hitting different departments. Wondering if anyone has inside info on which areas are most affected or if this is a sign of bigger things to come. It's hard to stay focused when you're constantly worried about your own job security. Has anyone heard anything about retention efforts or if they're planning on rehiring in specific areas later? Trying to get a sense of the overall strategy here, or if it's just a series of reactive cuts. Definitely feels like a tough time to be in banking right now. Anyone else feeling the pressure or hearing whispers in their teams?

Heard rumors that the cuts are targeting roles that have been automated or are seeing reduced demand due to market shifts. It's tough, but the bank is also investing heavily in technology and new business lines, so it's possible some positions will open up elsewhere. Focus on upskilling and networking within the firm if you can. The volatility is definitely unnerving, but sometimes these restructurings lead to opportunities in growing sectors of the bank.
