It's tough seeing colleagues go, especially when the official reasons feel so corporate and detached from the reality on the ground. Performance numbers can look good, but maybe there are underlying shifts in strategy or technology that are making certain roles redundant faster than anticipated. Hope everyone affected lands on their feet quickly.
The narrative around layoffs is always tricky. While efficiency is often the stated goal, it's hard not to speculate about other motives. Boosting investor confidence before a big announcement or preparing for significant internal changes are definitely possibilities. Whatever the case, it's a difficult time for those impacted and their teams.
