Anyone else notice the internal hiring freeze?

Is it just me, or has the vibe in the office shifted over the last two weeks? I’ve been checking the internal portal and almost every open req in my org has been pulled down or marked as 'on hold' indefinitely. I tried asking my manager about backfilling a spot on our team, and the answer was basically a non-answer about 'budgetary alignment' for the remainder of the fiscal year. We keep hearing about the HPE deal moving through the regulatory stages, but there’s a total blackout on what that means for headcount stability. I’ve been through a few of these cycles before and usually, the 'budget alignment' talk is the precursor to the real announcements. If anyone has intel on whether this is just a Q4 accounting move or if we should be dusting off our resumes, please share. The lack of transparency is killing productivity more than the actual work itself.

I’ve been seeing the exact same thing in my department. It feels like every time we get close to finalizing a candidate, the req disappears into thin air. Management is playing it extremely coy, and the 'budgetary alignment' line is becoming a broken record. At this point, I think we’re all just waiting for the dust to settle on the HPE acquisition before we get any real answers. The uncertainty is definitely killing morale, especially when we’re still expected to hit the same aggressive deadlines with fewer hands on deck.

Look, it’s just the standard pre-merger freeze. When you have a massive acquisition like this looming, the finance teams go into total lockdown to make the balance sheets look as lean as possible for the closing. It’s annoying, sure, but it’s not exactly surprising. Just keep your head down, do the work, and stop stressing about the open reqs until the deal actually clears regulatory hurdles. Trying to squeeze info out of management right now is a waste of energy; they’ve been told to keep their mouths shut until the ink is dry.
