Anyone else blindsided by the email today?

I’m still shaking. I’ve been with the company for over six years and never expected to be caught up in this round. The notification came out of nowhere this morning—no PIP, no performance flags, just an abrupt calendar invite from HR and my access being cut within the hour. It feels like the company is scrambling to trim the fat before the acquisition fully hits the final stages. My manager didn’t even know it was happening until the meeting started. For those of you still in your seats, please make sure you’re backing up any personal files or contacts you need because they don't give you a second to breathe once the 'meeting' is over. I feel completely disposable after everything I contributed to the recent project cycles. Honestly, I’m just trying to figure out if there’s any hope for a decent severance package or if I need to lawyer up immediately. Is it just the NY office getting hit this hard, or is this happening across all the major hubs? Thinking of everyone else dealing with this right before the holidays.

I am so sorry you are going through this. It is absolutely gut-wrenching to be blindsided after six years of loyalty. The way they are handling this—cutting access immediately without any warning—is cold and honestly feels like a cowardly move to keep the process quiet before the acquisition closes. Please take care of yourself right now; your worth is not defined by a calendar invite from an HR department that clearly lacks empathy. You have experience, and you will land on your feet elsewhere.

This is exactly why loyalty to a corporation is a myth. Kellanova has clearly been preparing for this transition by sacrificing its people to make the books look better for the new owners. It is infuriating to hear that even managers were left in the dark, which confirms this was a top-down, ruthless numbers game. For those of us still here, the trust is officially gone. Keep your resume polished and your options open, because clearly, nobody is safe regardless of their performance history.
