Is the Mars acquisition integration causing these headcount cuts?

Anyone else feel like the timing of these mid-December cuts is just brutal? We all knew the Mars integration was going to bring some redundancy, but seeing the WARN notices go out right before the holidays is a low blow. My team has been sitting on our hands for weeks because we’re waiting for the 'synergy' plan to actually drop, and now we’re just watching the internal directory shrink. Are we expecting another wave in Q1, or is this it for the corporate support functions? It’s hard to stay focused on daily deliverables when the messaging from leadership is just 'business as usual' while people are getting their access revoked. Would love to hear if anyone in the NY office has heard anything specific regarding severance packages or if it’s just the standard policy. Trying to figure out if I should stick it out or start polishing the resume before the new year officially hits.

The timing is absolutely soulless. Management talks about culture and core values, but dropping these notices right before the holidays shows exactly where we stand on their priority list. Most of us have been in a state of paralysis for weeks, waiting for the other shoe to drop while trying to act like it's business as usual. Honestly, assume Q1 will bring more pain; they aren't going to stop until they hit their arbitrary efficiency targets, and corporate support is always the easiest line item to slash to satisfy the shareholders.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a clean slate in the new year. When you have a massive acquisition like this, the 'synergy' integration is usually a multi-phase process, not a one-time event. They’re just getting started with the overhead cuts, and the remaining teams are going to be spread even thinner as we absorb the workload of those who were let go. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, especially with how they handled the communication, but keep your resume updated because the restructuring phase is likely far from over.
