Anyone else feeling the silence in the office?

It’s getting really quiet around the branches and the regional hubs lately. With another 268 roles confirmed to be on the chopping block per the recent WARN filings, the air in the office is thick. Management keeps talking about 'operational efficiency' and 'streamlining,' but we all know that’s just corporate speak for getting more work out of fewer people. I’ve been here for over six years, and I’ve never seen the anxiety levels this high. People are afraid to even open their email in the morning. It feels like every time I walk into the breakroom, someone is whispering about who got a calendar invite for a 'mandatory sync' with HR. Are we just waiting for the next shoe to drop, or is there an actual end in sight to this downward spiral? My team is already stretched so thin we’re practically transparent. If I see one more 'do more with less' email from leadership, I’m going to lose it. Has anyone heard anything about further reductions for Q4, or are they done for the year?

I hear you. The silence is deafening because everyone is terrified of becoming the next headline. It’s hard to focus on 'streamlining' when you’re watching your colleagues disappear week after week. The corporate jargon about efficiency is honestly insulting at this point. I’ve stopped looking for long-term growth here and started refreshing my resume every single night. We aren't being treated like employees anymore; we're just line items being crossed off to appease shareholders. It’s a toxic environment, and the uncertainty is starting to break everyone’s spirit.

Honestly, it’s just business as usual in the banking sector right now, even if it feels brutal. KeyCorp isn't the only firm tightening its belt, and while the atmosphere is tense, there’s not much to do but keep your head down and perform. Complaining on here won't change the strategic shifts happening at the top, and if you’re that stressed, it might be time to look for a firm with a more stable outlook. Just survive the quarterly cycle, update your LinkedIn, and move on if the culture no longer suits your career goals.
