The silence from management is the worst part. Every time my Slack icon pops up with a meeting invite from HR, my heart sinks. It’s impossible to get any actual work done when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if you’re next. I’ve seen enough of these 'streamlining' rounds in the industry to know that 94 is rarely where it ends. Stay sharp and keep your network updated, because loyalty clearly doesn't mean anything to the people at the top right now.
Honestly, don't waste your energy stressing over deliverables that don't matter. If your team is on the list, no amount of hard work is going to save your seat. I went through a round of layoffs at a previous company, and the best advice I can give is to start backing up your personal files and polishing your resume immediately. These executives view us as line items on a spreadsheet, so treat your career like a business and stop waiting for transparency that’s never coming.
