It is definitely not just you. The atmosphere has soured significantly over the last few quarters. That old focus on innovation and technical excellence has been replaced by a suffocating obsession with quarterly optics and bottom-line metrics. I’ve noticed the same anxiety in my team; talented people are checking out or polishing their resumes because the job security just isn't there anymore. When leadership stops valuing the engineers and starts prioritizing stock performance at the expense of culture, it’s a clear sign that the priorities have fundamentally shifted for the worse.
I’ve been around for a while and this is the most demoralized I have ever seen the office. It feels like every 'strategic realignment' is just a mask for thinning the herd to appease investors. We keep hearing about how we are an engineering-driven company, but the reality on the ground is that the burnout rate is becoming unsustainable. Projects are stalling because key people are constantly being pushed out, leaving the rest of us to pick up the slack without any real support. It’s hard to keep caring when the human element is treated as an afterthought.
