KLA September 30th Reduction: Who’s getting the call?

So the WARN notice finally hit for the 94 roles. It’s always the same anxious waiting game when the paperwork goes public, but the silence from leadership is deafening as usual. I’ve heard whispers that it’s hitting the Milpitas office hard, specifically targeting the R&D support staff and some of the older legacy program teams. Does anyone know if this is strictly a geographic cut for the DC notice, or is this just the tip of the iceberg for a wider global reduction? I’ve been here for four years and the culture has shifted so much recently. Everything is 'operational efficiency' this and 'cost optimization' that, but nobody actually explains how the remaining teams are supposed to keep the service levels up when we’re already stretched thin. If you’re on the chopping block this round, please update here once you get your package details—I’m curious if they’re actually offering anything decent or if it’s just the bare minimum legal requirement. Stay safe everyone, keep your resumes updated and reach out to your network before the 'restructuring' notices start hitting personal emails.

The uncertainty right now is brutal. From what I’m hearing around the office, it seems like they are focusing heavily on those legacy product lines to pivot resources toward newer AI-related workflows. If you are in R&D support, I’d suggest bracing for the worst. The lack of clear communication is standard procedure here, which unfortunately tells you everything you need to know about the company's priorities. Hope you manage to get some clarity soon, but keep your resume polished just in case this really is just the first wave.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for management to clarify if this is global or just local to the DC filing. Usually, these headcount adjustments start with the low-hanging fruit in the main offices before they quietly trickle down to the international satellite teams. The way they handle these 'notifications' always feels cold and detached. If your role isn't directly tied to the primary growth initiatives, you should probably assume you're at risk. It’s a tough spot to be in, but looking at the broader market trends, it feels like they are trimming fat across the board.
