Yeah, I'm in a different department but have definitely noticed a similar vibe. Things that would have been rubber-stamped six months ago are now going through multiple layers of review. My team lead mentioned something about 'strategic realignment' which sounds like corporate speak for 'we're watching every penny.' It's a bit unnerving, especially when you've got projects relying on that tooling. Hope it's just a temporary blip and not a sign of bigger issues.
Could be nothing. Companies often do a 'budget reset' or 'spend review' periodically, especially if they're anticipating a market slowdown or just want to reassess priorities. 'Prudent' doesn't necessarily mean disaster. Maybe try focusing on projects that can be done with existing resources for now, or really build a strong business case for any new tools. Sometimes a little extra justification goes a long way when budgets are tight.
