Has anyone heard anything about Q3 headcount targets?

It’s been eerily quiet in my division lately. We keep hearing the usual corporate speak about 'market alignment' and 'prioritizing high-value initiatives,' but the atmosphere in the office has definitely shifted. I’ve noticed a few long-term folks suddenly going silent on internal channels, and the usual project approvals are moving at a glacial pace. I know we aren’t a tech company that does massive, public, headline-grabbing rounds of layoffs, but the internal pressure to justify every single head is becoming exhausting. Is anyone else noticing the 'backfilling' freeze, or am I just reading into the routine budget scrutiny too much? I have a feeling the next town hall is going to be heavy on the jargon but light on actual clarity regarding stability for the rest of the year. Any intel from the manufacturing or supply chain side would be appreciated.

I’ve been tracking the same patterns in my department. That 'market alignment' talk is just a euphemism for trimming the fat without causing a panic. It’s classic Koch-style management—they prefer a slow, quiet exit process over the PR disaster of a mass layoff. If you see those long-term folks vanishing, start updating your resume now. They aren't just shifting roles; they’re quietly de-layering and tightening the belt before the quarter ends. Don't wait for an official announcement that might never come.
