Another round of cuts: Does anyone feel safe anymore?

Just saw the news about the 379 people getting the boot at Connell. It feels like every time I open my email or check the news, there’s another headcount reduction hanging over our heads. I’ve been with Lamb Weston for a while, but the morale lately is just absolute garbage. You walk into the office or the plant, and everyone is just looking over their shoulder, wondering if their department is next on the chopping block. Leadership keeps talking about 'operational efficiency' and 'market headwinds,' but it feels like they’re just burning through talent to make the quarterly numbers look slightly less abysmal. Are we actually fixing the underlying issues, or are we just stripping the company down to the studs while the stock takes a hit anyway? I’m exhausted by the 'do more with less' mantra. At this point, I’m mentally checking out and updating my resume because I refuse to be the last one left trying to do the work of three people for the same paycheck. Has anyone heard if there are more 'efficiency initiatives' planned for Q1, or is this it for the year?

It’s honestly soul-crushing watching friends walk out the door after years of hard work. Management loves throwing around buzzwords like 'operational efficiency' to justify these cuts, but it’s clear they don't care about the people keeping this place running. You can't expect loyalty when you treat your workforce like disposable line items. The uncertainty is brutal, and the constant stress is making it impossible to focus on anything beyond just trying to survive until the next round of layoffs is announced.

I’ve been watching the stock and the broader industry trends, and unfortunately, this shift feels like a structural necessity rather than a temporary fix. While the personal toll is undeniably high, the market environment for frozen potatoes has changed significantly, and the company is clearly trying to pivot to keep its head above water. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but staying quiet and keeping your head down is about all you can do while the dust settles. Hopefully, they finish these cuts soon so some semblance of normalcy returns.
