Feeling the burnout after the recent cuts

Honestly, the workload for those of us still here is becoming impossible. Ever since the announcement, they’ve been talking about 'streamlining' and 'doing more with less,' but in reality, it just means I’m doing the work of two people who aren't there anymore. The morale in my department is subterranean. You look around the office and it’s just empty desks and awkward silence because nobody wants to be the one to ask what the actual plan is. They keep throwing 'resilience' buzzwords at us, but you can’t eat resilience. I’m starting to look at external postings, even though the market feels pretty slow right now. Is anyone else actually seeing meaningful changes in how we operate, or are we just bleeding out slowly?

I’m right there with you. The 'streamlining' talk is just a corporate mask for sheer exhaustion. It’s impossible to maintain the quality they expect when the team has been gutted. Every time I see a recruiter post or an internal memo about 'resilience,' I just want to log off. We’re being stretched thin until something breaks, and unfortunately, management seems perfectly fine with that as long as the numbers look okay on paper for the next quarter. Take care of yourself, because this place definitely won't.

Hang in there. It’s a toxic environment when they push the 'doing more with less' narrative while the offices are literal ghost towns. They don’t care about the burnout, they only care about output. Use the time to polish your resume and look for an exit strategy. You don't owe them your mental health. Most of us are just keeping our heads down and waiting for the right moment to jump ship, so you aren't the only one feeling the weight of this mess.
