Is the Connell RIF the end of it?

Just saw the WARN notice for the 379 folks at Connell. It’s brutal. I know people have been speculating about this for months, but seeing the actual number hit the ledger makes it real. Does anyone have a pulse on whether this is a localized restructuring or if we’re looking at a broader push for efficiency across the other plants? My manager has been tight-lipped, but the calendar is suddenly full of 'strategy alignment' meetings that have no agenda. It’s hard to focus on day-to-day operations when you’re constantly checking the internal news feed waiting for the other shoe to drop. If you’re at another site, are you seeing similar headcount freezes or is this strictly a WA issue? Really hoping we aren't next.

The 'strategy alignment' talk is always the red flag. I've been through enough of these to know that when the calendar blocks start appearing without context, the higher-ups are usually finalizing the next round of cuts. It’s rarely just one plant. If they are looking for ways to trim, they’re likely benchmarking every site against those Connell numbers. Keep your resume updated and start networking outside the company immediately; it’s better to be prepared for the worst than to be blindsided while waiting for transparency that isn't coming.

That number is definitely a gut punch, especially for the families out in Connell. Honestly, don't count on your manager for the truth right now. Even if they knew something, they’ve been told to keep it quiet until the PR team handles the fallout. My advice is to look at the inventory levels and demand shifts across your own facility. If efficiency is the new corporate mantra, everyone is effectively under a microscope. Stay low, document your contributions, and keep your options open until the dust finally settles on this.
