Is the culture shifting or am I just jaded?

Been with the company for a few years now and the vibe lately is just... off. We keep hearing about how solid we are, but then you see these small, weird layoff notices popping up in places like LA. It feels like they’re trying to avoid a mass WARN notice by just slowly leaking people out the door. The communication from leadership has been fluff at best, and there’s absolutely no transparency regarding the long-term headcount strategy. I don't know, maybe I’m just paranoid because of the industry-wide instability, but I’ve noticed a lot of people are suddenly 'looking for new opportunities' on LinkedIn. Is anyone actually seeing growth in their departments, or is it just 'do more with less' until we all burn out? Thinking of jumping ship before the next round happens.

You aren't imagining things. That slow-bleed approach is a classic corporate tactic to keep morale from completely tanking while they quietly trim the headcount. It’s impossible to feel secure when leadership treats transparency like a liability. If the communication feels like fluff, it’s usually because they don’t want to admit they don’t have a concrete plan beyond cutting costs. Trust your gut—the fact that you’re noticing this shift suggests the culture has indeed moved away from the collaborative environment they claim to support.

Honestly, it’s just business as usual in the gaming sector right now. Everyone is looking to tighten the belt, and unfortunately, that usually means death by a thousand cuts rather than one big announcement. It sucks to be on the receiving end of these silent layoffs, but don't let it paralyze you. It’s probably best to keep your resume updated and stay alert. The lack of transparency is standard for this industry, so focus on your own stability instead of waiting for leadership to give you the honest answers they clearly aren't equipped to provide.
