Another round in Ashburn? The Nov 23rd WARN notice is out

Just saw the filing hit for the Ashburn office. Another 84 heads on the chopping block effective November 23rd. It feels like every time we get comfortable, another wave of notifications comes down the pipeline. I’ve been with Leidos for four years and the culture has shifted from 'mission first' to 'let’s trim the margins to keep the stock price looking pretty for the quarter.' I’m currently waiting to see if my program is on the hit list. The lack of transparency from leadership is honestly the most draining part. You get vague emails about 'aligning resources' while the rest of us are left to speculate which contract is losing funding or which internal restructure is moving the goalposts. If you’re in the Ashburn orbit, keep your resume updated and make sure you’ve saved any performance reviews or internal docs you might need, because they don't give you much time to pack up once they pull you into that HR meeting. Anyone else heard rumblings about if this is localized to the VA hub or if the ripple effect is going to hit the rest of the divisions before the holidays?

It is honestly exhausting watching the same cycle repeat every few months. I was part of the Ashburn team back in the spring, and the way they handle these notifications hasn't improved at all. They preach about mission success, but the moment the quarterly numbers look soft, the headcount is the first thing they sacrifice. Don't waste your energy waiting for transparency from leadership; just update your resume tonight and start networking while you still have access to your accounts. You aren't a priority to them, so don't feel guilty about prioritizing yourself.

Hang in there. I’ve been through three of these rounds over the last five years, and the anxiety of waiting for that meeting invite is the worst part. The focus shifted a long time ago, and it’s clear that headcount reduction is the only lever they know how to pull to appease shareholders. Use this time to document your achievements and reach out to your contacts outside the company. It’s a harsh environment right now, but you deserve to work somewhere that treats people like assets rather than expenses to be trimmed.
