Anyone else blindsided by the 7/13 wave?

I’ve been at Leidos for five years and honestly, the atmosphere has been shifting for months. But 305 people? That number feels like a gut punch. My manager was acting weird all week, but I assumed it was just typical quarter-end stress. Then the calendar invites started appearing. I’ve seen some of the best engineers and analysts in my sector get booted out the door in a single morning. The worst part is the silence from leadership—just a generic 'restructuring' email and then back to business as usual. How are we supposed to deliver on these contracts when we are trimming the fat so thin we’re hitting the bone? I’m looking at my dashboard and the workload hasn't decreased, but the people who actually knew how to navigate the legacy code are gone. If you were impacted, how are you handling the exit packages? Is HR actually offering anything decent or are they lowballing everyone?

I was in the same boat, watching my calendar blow up right as the news hit. It’s hard not to feel like just another line item on a spreadsheet after putting in so much hard work. The lack of transparency from the top is what stings the most. It feels like they are prioritizing the share price over the people who actually built the tech. Keep your head up, the market is tough right now, but those of us who survived are definitely looking for the exits.

That morning was absolute chaos. It’s infuriating how they frame these layoffs as 'strategic restructuring' while the people left behind are expected to double their workload without a word of explanation. I lost two close teammates who were the backbone of our project, and now management is acting like nothing happened. I’m already polishing my resume because if this is how they handle long-term employees, I don’t want to see what the next wave looks like.
