The Ashburn situation is definitely hitting differently this time. When you see numbers like that, the corporate 'restructuring' label feels like a weak attempt to sugarcoat what’s clearly a broader shift in strategy. I wouldn’t put too much stock in that 'protected' status you were told about. In my experience, once leadership starts cutting, they stop caring about project viability and focus entirely on the bottom line. Keep your resume updated and start quietly networking now; waiting until the news hits your own floor is a gamble you don't want to take.
Look, it is standard practice at this point. They keep us in the dark with vague emails about 'aligning resources' while the WARN notices pile up. It’s never just one office or one department. If you’re in a delivery role, you might have a bit more runway, but nobody is truly safe when the margins get tight. Everyone I know is already polishing their profiles and looking at the exit signs. Don't let them lull you into a false sense of security just because your current contract is technically funded.
