Feeling the pressure after the latest VA notification

Honestly, at this point, I’m just waiting for the calendar invite to appear out of nowhere. The November 23rd date on that WARN notice is so close to the holidays, it’s honestly brutal. My project lead hasn’t said a word, which I’m taking as either they know nothing or they’re being told to stay quiet until it’s too late. I’ve started brushing off my resume and reaching out to my network. It’s getting real quiet on the Slack channels, and you can definitely feel the morale drain in the virtual meetings. Does anyone know if they are offering any decent severance, or is it the bare minimum? I’ve put in five years here and I’d hate to think they’d just kick us to the curb without even a decent package to bridge the gap. If you’re in Ashburn or similar hubs, how are you guys handling the uncertainty? I’m finding it impossible to actually focus on my tickets today.

It’s honestly infuriating how they handle these transitions. The radio silence from management is the standard playbook, but it doesn't make the uncertainty any easier to swallow right before the holidays. If you're seeing those Slack channels go dead, that’s usually the biggest tell that the writing is on the wall. Don't wait for them to initiate the conversation—keep pushing that networking angle hard. Most of us have been through these Leidos cycles before, and the best move is always to secure your own exit strategy before they force your hand on that November deadline.

Hang in there. I know the mood is bleak, but you aren’t alone in this. While the lack of communication is definitely stressful, focusing your energy on updating your credentials is the most productive path forward. Remember that the contract landscape is constantly shifting, and your skills are likely highly transferable outside of this specific project. Keep your head up, stay professional in your meetings for now, and keep reaching out to your contacts. Better opportunities often surface exactly when you least expect them during these transitional periods.
