Anyone else getting weird vibes lately? Is a RIF coming?

Is it just me, or has the energy in the office shifted over the last month? I’ve been with Linde for a few years now, and usually, the leadership team is pretty transparent, but everything feels a bit tighter lately. We’ve seen some projects get pushed back or put on indefinite hold, and the usual travel budget approvals have become a nightmare to get through. I’ve heard whispers from a few folks in the engineering group about 'structural realignments' being discussed at the regional director level. My manager won’t confirm or deny anything, just giving the classic 'we need to stay lean and competitive' speech whenever someone asks if we’re hitting our targets. I’m not trying to spread panic, but I’ve been through a corporate acquisition before and this silence feels too familiar. Has anyone heard anything concrete from HR or their skip-levels? I’m starting to update my resume just in case, but I’d love to know if there’s actually talk of a headcount reduction or if I’m just being paranoid because of the current economic climate.

The rumors about structural realignments are definitely gaining traction. I’ve noticed the same tightening of the purse strings in my department, and the delays on project approvals are never a good sign. It feels like management is preparing for a correction. I’d start updating your resume quietly just in case, because when they start using terminology like that, the writing is usually already on the wall. Better safe than sorry while the market is still somewhat active.

Honestly, it feels like typical corporate theater at this point. Linde has gone through these 'realignments' before, and while it’s always stressful, it doesn't always lead to massive cuts. The travel budget issues could just be a temporary push to improve quarterly margins for shareholders. Try not to panic until you see something concrete. Most of the office gossip is just anxiety manifesting as fact. Keep your head down and focus on your current deliverables for now.
