Linde - Anyone else getting the 'efficiency' talk?

Been hearing a lot of buzzwords lately in town halls and departmental meetings. 'Synergies,' 'streamlining,' 'efficiency gains.' It's starting to feel a bit like a preamble. My manager has been cagey when asked about future headcount, just saying we're 'adapting to market conditions.' My specific role feels secure for now, but I'm worried about downstream impacts. We're a big company, and sometimes these initiatives can snowball. Has anyone else had direct conversations with leadership or HR about the company's strategic direction and what it means for jobs? Curious if anyone has any concrete intel or just shares the same uneasy feeling.

Yeah, the 'efficiency' talk is definitely circulating here too. It feels like the same song and dance we've heard before during slower periods. My team lead just shrugs and says it's standard corporate messaging, but the vagueness about headcount is what's unnerving. I'm hoping it's just fluff, but I've started updating my resume just in case. It’s hard to ignore when the language shifts so noticeably. Hopefully, it's nothing, but better to be prepared.

Completely echo your sentiment. The constant barrage of buzzwords like 'synergies' and 'streamlining' feels like a prelude to something more significant. While my direct team hasn't seen any immediate changes, there's a palpable anxiety about what 'adapting to market conditions' actually means for roles beyond the immediate. It's the ripple effect that worries me most. Has anyone heard anything concrete, or is it just the usual corporate jargon designed to manage expectations?
