Linde - Is the company slowing down? Seeing fewer projects.

Hey everyone, been with Linde for a few years now in R&D. Lately, it feels like there's a noticeable slowdown in new project initiations and even some existing ones seem to be on indefinite hold. My team's been tasked with 'optimizing' existing workflows, which is code for 'not much else to do.' I haven't heard any official word on layoffs, and honestly, it's pretty quiet on that front. But the general vibe in the company seems a bit uncertain. Anyone else in different departments noticing this? Is it just a seasonal thing, or is something bigger brewing? Trying to get a read on the room without causing undue panic.

I'm in engineering and have definitely seen a similar trend. It's not just new projects; even approvals for necessary equipment upgrades seem to be taking much longer. The 'optimization' language is definitely something I've heard too. It feels like a general tightening of the purse strings, or maybe a strategic pivot that hasn't been clearly communicated to everyone. Hopefully, it's just a temporary phase and things will pick up soon. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any insights from the business development side.

Interesting to hear your perspective. From my side in sales, we're seeing a bit of a mixed bag. Some sectors are still quite robust with demand, but others are definitely showing a slowdown, which impacts new opportunities. The project pipeline does feel less robust than it was a year or two ago. It's hard to tell if it's macro-economic factors affecting the industry broadly or something specific to Linde's strategy. Appreciate you sharing your observations from R&D.
