Feeling the pressure: Performance reviews and 'efficiency'

Is it just me, or does it feel like the goalposts have moved significantly this quarter? I’ve never seen so much emphasis on 'operational efficiency' and 'lean workflows' as I have in the last three weeks. I’ve been through a few cycles here, and whenever leadership starts throwing around these buzzwords, it usually precedes a round of 'restructuring.' I feel like I'm doing the work of two people just to prove I'm essential, but the management tone has shifted from supportive to interrogative. If they are planning to trim the fat, they’re definitely doing it by making the current environment so stressful that people start looking for the exit on their own. Anyone else getting that vibe, or am I just burning out?

The shift in tone is definitely noticeable. When they start harping on 'efficiency' and 'lean workflows' at Live Nation, it is rarely a good sign for job security. I have seen this cycle play out before, and it always starts with the same interrogative management style meant to make you feel like you are underperforming. You are not imagining it; the goalposts are intentionally being pushed to see who will snap first. Take care of your mental health, because they certainly will not look out for it while they are busy crunching numbers for the next round of restructuring.

I have been tracking the recent internal comms and the pivot toward 'operational efficiency' is classic corporate signaling. They are setting the stage to justify cuts by creating this narrative that the existing workload is somehow unsustainable due to current performance rather than headcount issues. Keep your head down, document everything you accomplish, and start updating your portfolio on the side. If they are already questioning your output despite you doing the work of two people, they have likely already made up their minds about the path forward.
