Is it just me, or does it feel like we’re all holding our breath lately? I walked past a couple of HR reps in the lobby yesterday and they looked like they’d seen a ghost. Even the senior leadership team seems to be spending way more time in closed-door sessions than they usually do on a Tuesday. I’ve been through a re-org here before, and this feels exactly like the prelude to one. There’s no official word on the wire, but the internal search for 'streamlining opportunities' has trickled down to my team. If they start asking for a list of daily tasks to justify our seat count, I’m getting my resume out immediately. Does anyone have any insight on if specific divisions are being targeted, or is this supposed to be a company-wide purge?

I’ve been hearing the same rumors in the halls, and the energy is definitely off. Every time someone from leadership walks by, everyone just stops talking. We all know what 'streamlining' means in this industry. I’m already refreshing my portfolio and updating my LinkedIn just in case, because waiting for an official memo usually means it’s already too late to prepare. Keep your head down and start looking elsewhere now.

Honestly, I wouldn't panic just yet. We go through these cycles of paranoia every time the quarterly earnings report approaches. The closed-door meetings are probably just the usual budget tightening and strategy pivots for the upcoming season. Unless you see them bringing in external consultants with binders, it’s likely just standard corporate posturing. Let’s just focus on getting our work done and see if things settle down by the end of the week.
