Another round of cuts in Michigan? What’s the word?

I’m seeing the WARN notices popping up for the Flint and Burton locations regarding the 235 layoffs. Honestly, I’m not even surprised at this point, but it’s still gut-wrenching for those folks. Is anyone hearing if this is strictly related to store performance in that specific market or are they just thinning the herd to appease shareholders again? I’ve been with the company for a few years and the atmosphere in our breakroom has been tense for months. Management keeps talking about 'restructuring' and 'streamlining operations,' but we all know that’s just corporate speak for gutting the staff while expecting the remaining associates to pick up the slack. I’m currently looking for an exit strategy because I don’t want to be the one reading about my own position on a WARN notice next quarter. Has anyone heard if there are more regions targeted for the next wave, or is it just concentrated in these spots? Really feeling for everyone caught up in this mess. Stay strong.

It is definitely the latter. Corporate doesn't care about individual store metrics when they have quarterly earnings targets to hit for the board. They look at a spreadsheet, see a way to cut overhead, and pull the trigger regardless of the human cost. That tense feeling in your breakroom is nationwide right now—everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop while management hides behind corporate buzzwords like 'restructuring.' Get your resume updated, because they clearly view us as line items rather than employees.
