I've noticed the exact same thing at my store. It’s reached a point where there’s only one person covering an entire department during peak hours, and customers are starting to get noticeably frustrated. Management keeps pushing the 'efficiency' narrative, but it’s just unsustainable. We’re being asked to do the work of three people for the same pay, and it feels like they’re just waiting for us to hit our breaking point. It’s clear the focus has shifted entirely away from the associates and the customer experience.
Honestly, it’s refreshing to hear I’m not the only one feeling this way. The morale at my location is absolutely in the gutter. Every time we have a shift meeting, they talk about record profits or company growth, yet they can't manage to schedule enough people to keep the aisles clean or the inventory stocked. It definitely feels intentional. They want us running on fumes so they can trim the roster without making headlines. Start polishing your resume now, because this current strategy isn’t going to change for the better anytime soon.
