Performance Reviews and Potential Cuts?

So, performance reviews just wrapped up, and honestly, the vibe feels... off. It's always a bit tense, but this year it felt like there was a lot more emphasis on 'impact' and 'efficiency.' My manager was kind of vague but kept alluding to 'resource allocation' and 'strategic realignment' for the upcoming year. It got me thinking if this is just corporate speak for preparing for layoffs. We haven't had any official announcements, and I haven't seen any specific layoff reports here, but the tone in the reviews felt different. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this standard end-of-year talk, or does it feel like something more is brewing at Lowe's?

It's totally understandable why you're feeling that way. That kind of language from management, especially after reviews, is always a red flag for potential changes. 'Strategic realignment' and 'resource allocation' have definitely become buzzwords for belt-tightening in a lot of companies lately. Hopefully, it's just corporate restructuring and not something more drastic, but keeping an eye out is smart.
