The 'do more with less' mantra is getting out of hand

It’s genuinely laughable at this point. We’re losing headcount, but the expectations for the remaining staff haven’t changed by a single decimal point. If anything, they expect us to pick up the slack from the people who got cut while also 'improving efficiency.' It’s the classic corporate move: gut the team, tell the survivors it’s a 'growth opportunity,' and wonder why morale is in the basement. I’m tired of the town halls where they talk about innovation while we’re busy just trying to keep the floors stocked and the customers from losing their minds. How are we supposed to drive revenue when we don't have enough bodies to cover the floor during peak hours? It’s not just stressful anymore; it’s unsustainable. Anyone else just counting the days until they find something better? I feel like I’m just waiting for the axe to swing my way at this point.

I feel this in my soul. Every time they announce another 'restructuring' or 'process improvement,' I know it just means twice the work for the same paycheck. The disconnect between corporate leadership and the actual floor reality is wider than it has ever been. We are drowning in tasks while they polish slide decks about synergy. It is exhausting to watch them chase these imaginary efficiency targets when we don't even have enough bodies to cover the aisles properly. Something has to give soon because the burnout is becoming impossible to hide.

Honestly, I stopped listening to the town halls a long time ago. They always frame the cuts as some brilliant strategic pivot, but we are the ones left picking up the pieces. You can't just slice headcount and expect the same results without the ship eventually taking on water. It is blatant disrespect to the staff who are actually keeping the store running every day. When they start preaching about innovation, it just feels like a slap in the face to everyone who is just trying to survive a single shift without losing their minds.
