Anyone else feeling the pre-layoff jitters hardcore?

I've been with Lumen for 7 years now, in network engineering, and the atmosphere lately is just...thick. You know? Like everyone is walking on eggshells. My manager, who's usually pretty chatty, has been super quiet and just generally seems stressed. I overheard snippets of a conversation between him and another manager about 'resource allocation' and 'restructuring'. My gut is telling me something big is coming down the pipeline. Anyone else experiencing this at their location or in their department? I'm trying not to panic, but it's hard not to when you have a family to support. Maybe I should start dusting off the resume...

Yep, feeling it too. I'm in sales support, and our call volume has been noticeably lower, which is usually a bad sign. They keep pushing these 'voluntary separation packages', which to me screams, 'we're about to cut deep and this is your chance to jump before you're pushed'. My advice? Update your resume, start networking, and be prepared for anything. It's better to be proactive than caught off guard.

Honestly, this happens every year. Remember the restructuring talk in 2021? And 2019? It's always the same cycle. People get anxious, rumors fly, then...nothing major happens, just a few folks in redundant roles get let go. I'm not saying to be complacent, but panicking over overheard conversations is just going to stress you out unnecessarily. Focus on your work and try to ignore the noise.
