Lumen: Is voluntary separation coming back?

I’ve been hearing whispers on the grapevine that leadership is looking at ways to trim the fat without doing a headline-grabbing layoff. Has anyone heard anything about a VSP (Voluntary Separation Program) being offered? Honestly, if they’re going to force people out, I’d much rather take a package and leave on my own terms than wait for the chopping block later this year. The morale in my department is at an all-time low, and the constant fear of the next 'reorganization' makes it impossible to focus on actual projects. It feels like we're just waiting for the other shoe to drop. If they do offer something, I’m taking it and running. I’ve already started networking, but a severance would make the transition a hell of a lot easier. If anyone has insider info or heard anything from HR circles, please drop a hint. Tired of the corporate gaslighting.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a VSP. Management seems to prefer the quiet layoff approach lately, picking people off in small waves to avoid the bad PR that comes with a mass announcement. If you're feeling that burnout, start looking externally now. Don't bet your financial security on the hope of a severance package that might never materialize. It’s better to control your own exit than to wait for them to push you out the door.

Honestly, I’ve been hearing the same rumors, but at this point, who knows? The leadership team is so unpredictable that even if they planned one, they’d probably pivot at the last second. It’s a toxic environment when you're just sitting there waiting for an email that changes everything. If you have the savings, start polishing your resume today. Whether a VSP happens or not, this place clearly isn't going to get any better for those of us left in the trenches.
