Rant: Seriously tired of the constant uncertainty!

I'm so freaking over it. Every few months, there's another reorganization, another "strategic realignment," which basically translates to someone losing their job. I'm in a support role, been here for 5 years, and I'm constantly wondering if my number is up. The stress is affecting my health, my sleep, everything. I'm constantly on edge. Honestly, just TELL US what's going on! The lack of transparency is infuriating. Are they planning more layoffs? Are they not? The constant guessing game is worse than the actual layoffs themselves. I'm looking for a new job, but the market is tough. Seriously considering a career change at this point. Anything has to be better than this constant anxiety.

I hear you loud and clear. Been there, done that, got the anxiety disorder to prove it. Five years is a good chunk of time to dedicate to a company, and you deserve some stability. It sucks to feel like a chess piece in someone else's game. Start documenting everything *you* do. Achievements, training, positive feedback. Just in case you need it. And update your resume. It might give you some sense of control.

Strategic realignment is corporate-speak for 'we messed up and are trying to fix it on the backs of employees.' Honestly, this sounds pretty typical for them. Remember when they were Qwest? Uncertainty is part of the package, unfortunately. Instead of waiting for them to provide clarity (spoiler: they won't), actively look for another role elsewhere. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, especially when that bush is owned by Lumen.
