Severance Package - what to expect?

Hypothetically speaking, if Lumen were to announce layoffs, what kind of severance package would they likely offer? I'm trying to prepare myself, just in case. I've heard whispers of 2 weeks per year of service, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Also, does anyone know if they typically offer outplacement services or extend benefits? I'm particularly concerned about healthcare. Any insights from those who have been through this before at Lumen (or another similar telecom company) would be greatly appreciated. Trying to weigh my options and figure out what my next steps would be.

Honestly, it varies *wildly* depending on your level and tenure. Two weeks per year is often the *goal*, but reality can be different. Push for everything you can get – negotiate! Health insurance continuation (COBRA) is almost certainly part of it, but be prepared for the sticker shock. Also, investigate state unemployment benefits *immediately* if it happens, that can bridge some gaps.

From what I've seen at other telecoms, two weeks per year is optimistic. Don't bank on anything until you see the official paperwork. Start updating your resume *now*, network like crazy, and get your finances in order. Assume the worst, hope for the best. Outplacement is a nice-to-have, but often generic. Focus on your own job search strategy, don't rely on them for that.
