Anyone else still seeing 'optimization' projects on the horizon?

It’s been a few months since the May announcement and the October WARN filing finally hit the books, but the vibe in the office hasn't shifted back to normal. My manager keeps bringing up 'operational efficiency' and 'streamlining workflows' in every single team sync. We all know what that coded language actually means. I feel like we’re just waiting for the next shoe to drop. It’s hard to stay focused on quarterly goals when you’re constantly wondering if your department is next on the chopping block. Is anyone else getting pulled into these weird 'restructuring' discovery calls, or is my division just being targeted? The silence from leadership is deafening, and the lack of transparency is starting to impact morale across the board. I've started quietly updating my resume, just in case. It’s draining to come in every day feeling like a placeholder.

The 'streamlining' talk never really stops here. Once they start using those buzzwords, it’s usually just a precursor to another round of cuts. Everyone in my department is effectively just waiting for the next calendar invite to appear out of nowhere. It is draining to put in real effort on long-term projects when management treats us like we are expendable overhead. Honestly, the culture has shifted from building things to just trying to survive until the next quarter. Just keep your resume updated and your head down until the dust settles.

I've been through a few of these 'efficiency' cycles at MPC now, and the pattern is always the same. They throw around fancy corporate jargon to mask the fact that they are just trimming the headcount to appease shareholders. It creates a toxic environment where nobody trusts anyone anymore. Just focus on your own exit strategy if you can. Don't waste your energy worrying about quarterly goals that probably won't even matter for your role in six months. Protect your peace and look for something more stable elsewhere if the stress gets too high.
