Is the synergy talk just a cover for more headcount reduction?

Does anyone else roll their eyes every time we get an email about 'synergies' and 'operational efficiencies' lately? We all know that’s code for cutting more middle management and consolidating roles until one person is doing the job of three. After the May round, the workload for the survivors has been astronomical, yet we’re expected to maintain the same output. It feels like they are squeezing every drop of productivity out of us just to make the margins look slightly better for the next earnings call. I’m exhausted. The 'work-life balance' is completely non-existent at this point because if you aren't doing the work of two people, you’re basically painting a target on your back. Is it like this across all the regional offices, or is Houston just bearing the brunt of it? Thinking about jumping ship to another operator, but I’m worried the whole sector is going through this same 'efficiency' phase right now.

It is honestly exhausting to hear the word 'synergy' thrown around when we all know exactly what it means for our teams. Every time an email drops with that corporate buzzword, the anxiety in the office spikes because we know a layoff is coming. They keep preaching efficiency, but the actual result is just burning out the people left behind. You can't expect the same output when you’ve gutted the support staff and left survivors drowning in double the workload. It feels like they are sacrificing our sanity to keep the stock price propped up for another quarter.

I stopped reading those 'operational excellence' emails months ago because they’re just scripted nonsense designed to soften the blow of the next restructure. Management acts like they are streamlining processes, but they are really just stripping away resources until the entire system starts to fray at the edges. Everyone sees through the act, yet we are all forced to keep pretending that business as usual is sustainable. At this point, I think we are all just waiting for the next shoe to drop while management collects their bonuses for these 'cost-saving' measures.
