I'm seeing some similar things in my division. There's been a definite shift towards a more conservative approach to spending, and a lot of 'need to have' vs. 'nice to have' discussions happening. While nothing has been explicitly stated about layoffs, the tighter budgets and increased scrutiny on expenses are certainly creating a bit of a cloud. It's hard not to feel a little on edge when things feel that way. Hope it's just a temporary adjustment.

Totally get what you're saying. My team has also noticed a tighter grip on the purse strings lately. There's a bit more of a 'show me the ROI' mentality on new initiatives. While the day-to-day hasn't changed drastically, the underlying hum of caution is definitely noticeable. It's good to know others are feeling it too – makes you feel less alone in wondering what the bigger picture might be.
