Anyone else notice fewer new hires and more internal reshuffles?

Been working at one of the larger Marriott properties for a bit now, and I've noticed a definite slowdown in external hiring. We had a couple of positions open in F&B and front desk that have been vacant for months, with no signs of new candidates being brought in. Instead, I'm hearing about people being 'realigned' or moved internally to fill gaps. It's making things pretty tight with existing staff trying to cover. Is anyone else experiencing this? It feels like they're trying to cut back on new onboarding costs or maybe consolidating teams. Just curious about the broader picture.

Yeah, definitely seeing that too at my property. Seems like departments are being stretched pretty thin while management talks about 'optimizing resources.' There's a lot of quiet chatter about it among the staff, and honestly, it's creating a lot of extra work and stress for those of us who are still here. Hoping it's a temporary phase, but it's making day-to-day operations feel a bit precarious.

Interesting you mention that. We've had a similar situation. A few roles have been open for ages, and instead of bringing in fresh faces, they've been shuffling people around. It does make you wonder about the long-term strategy. While internal movement can be good for development, this feels more like a cost-saving measure, and it's definitely putting pressure on existing teams to pick up the slack. Hoping it doesn't impact the guest experience too much.
