Feeling the pressure after the latest reduction

It’s getting real quiet in the Slack channels lately. After seeing the recent announcement, everyone is walking on eggshells. Management keeps talking about 'synergy' and 'streamlining,' which we all know is just code for cutting headcount to make the balance sheet look better for the next earnings call. I’ve seen three people leave in my department alone this week, and none of them were replaced. The workload is being dumped onto the rest of us with zero extra support or compensation. If this is the new normal, I don’t think I can stay much longer. The burnout is becoming unsustainable, and I’m genuinely worried about what happens when the next wave hits. Does anyone know if there’s a hiring freeze currently in place, or are they just being super selective now?

I feel your pain. The 'streamlining' language is classic corporate speak used to mask the reality that those of us left behind are expected to do the work of two or three people. It is honestly demoralizing to watch talented colleagues get pushed out while leadership celebrates stock performance. I have started quietly polishing my resume because there is no loyalty left in this culture. Focus on your own mental health and keep your options open, because they clearly do not care about the human cost of these cuts.

Hang in there. It has been a rough stretch across the board, and the silence in the office is definitely deafening lately. I think we all recognize that the current pace is completely unsustainable, especially with the reduced headcount. While management talks about efficiency, they are really just burning out the high performers who are still here. Please do not let the workload define your worth; take breaks when you can and start looking for a team that actually values human resources over a temporary bump in the quarterly margins.
