Seeing a lot of 'efficiency improvements' – anyone else?

Hey everyone, been with Marriott for a few years now, mostly on the corporate side supporting our hotels. Lately, I've been hearing a lot about 'efficiency improvements' and 'streamlining operations' in various departments. It feels like more than just the usual buzzwords. My team's project scope has been significantly reduced, and a few roles that were open are suddenly 'on hold indefinitely'. Just wondering if this is a wider trend or if I'm just in a particularly affected area? Has anyone else's team seen similar shifts? Trying to gauge if this is just business as usual or if there's something more to it.

Definitely seeing it too, from a different angle though. My property has had a lot of new tech rolled out that's supposed to 'increase efficiency' but honestly, it's just added a layer of complexity and frustration for the front desk staff. We're spending more time troubleshooting the new systems than actually helping guests. It feels like the focus is on cost-cutting disguised as modernization, and the people on the ground are feeling the squeeze.**

Yeah, it’s a pretty consistent theme across the board it seems. There’s been a push for centralization of certain back-office functions, and while the idea is to create economies of scale, it’s definitely impacting some roles. People are being asked to do more with less, or are seeing their tasks automated. The hope is that it leads to a more robust, agile company, but the short-term disruption is undeniable.**
