Feeling the pressure at Masco, anyone else hearing whispers?

Been here about 4 years, in the [mention a generic department like Engineering or Product Development]. Lately, the vibe has been... off. My manager is being cagey, lots of 'strategic realignment' talk in leadership meetings but no concrete details. We had a pretty quiet all-hands last week, which is unusual. No one's been outright laid off that I know of, but there's definitely a nervous energy. Seeing a lot of people polishing up their LinkedIn profiles, myself included. Just wondering if anyone else in other divisions or locations are feeling this chill? Is it just my team or is there something bigger brewing that hasn't hit the news yet? Trying not to panic, but it's hard when the rumor mill is working overtime.

Yeah, I've been picking up on that too. Been in [another generic department, e.g., Sales] for a bit longer, and the shift in atmosphere is palpable. My team lead is acting like they don't know anything, but I suspect they're holding back. The 'strategic realignment' phrase has been thrown around a lot lately, which is corporate speak for 'we're changing something significant, and you'll find out when we tell you.' It's creating a lot of anxiety. I'm also keeping an ear to the ground and updating my resume, just in case.

I'm not sure I'm sensing the same level of panic. Things feel a little tighter, sure, but I've seen cycles like this before at Masco. Sometimes 'strategic realignment' is just that – a shift in focus or resources, not necessarily a prelude to mass layoffs. Remember the Q3 of '19? Everyone was freaking out then too, and it ended up being nothing major. Maybe focus on delivering solid work and understanding the new direction once it's clearer, rather than jumping to conclusions. Polish the resume, fine, but don't let the rumors paralyze you.
