Is it just me, or is the air in the office feeling different lately? I’ve been hearing a lot of 'efficiency' talk in the all-hands calls, which usually precedes a headcount cull. My manager has been acting weirdly avoidant during 1:1s, and project approvals that used to take days are now sitting in limbo for weeks without explanation. I feel like we’re being set up for a slow-bleed workforce reduction before the fiscal year ends. Has anyone else noticed the uptick in 'cost-saving' initiatives filtering down to the individual contributor level? I’m trying to figure out if I should start dusting off the resume now or if I’m just being paranoid because of the broader market climate. Any insight from the business units would be appreciated.

Same vibe here. The shift in leadership's tone during the last town hall was impossible to miss. All the vague buzzwords about 'streamlining operations' are just corporate speak for layoffs. I’ve noticed the exact same freeze on project approvals in my department, and it feels like they’re waiting for a green light from higher-ups to pull the trigger on cuts. Update your resume while you still have access to the internal network, because the writing is definitely on the wall for Q3. Don't wait for a formal announcement to start looking elsewhere.

Honestly, you might be reading too much into it, or maybe I’m just being naive. We go through these 'efficiency' cycles every year right before the fiscal wrap-up, and usually, it's just about tightening the budget rather than a mass exodus of staff. The project delays are likely just due to the seasonal slow-down or the budget being locked for the transition period. I haven’t seen anything suggesting a major cull, so maybe hold off on the panic until we actually see a layoff notice or something concrete.
