Quarterly town hall felt like a total nothingburger

Did anyone else catch the town hall today? It’s honestly impressive how much they can talk for 45 minutes without actually saying anything of substance. A lot of buzzwords about 'streamlining' and 'market headwinds,' but not a single concrete metric on where we’re headed next year. Normally, we’d have a clear view of the pipeline, but the slides were suspiciously light on actual numbers. The Q&A was heavily curated, naturally. Every time someone asked about budget reallocation or the status of vacant roles, they just deflected to 'maximizing shareholder value' and 'optimizing our portfolio.' I have a feeling the 'optimization' they're referring to is going to be a thin-the-herd event. If you’re not seeing the writing on the wall, you aren't paying attention. The silence from HR regarding the backfill process for the departures in the plumbing segment speaks volumes. Start updating your resumes now if you haven't already, just in case.

The transparency is at an all-time low. It feels like leadership is treating us like children who aren't allowed to see the books. If they can’t be honest about the pipeline and budget shifts during an internal town hall, we should all be worried about what's actually going on behind closed doors. The vague corporate speak is just a mask for poor planning.

It’s frustrating, but honestly, what did you expect? The town hall has been a scripted PR event for years now. I’ve stopped looking for 'substance' and just started reading between the lines of the buzzwords. If they aren't showing the numbers, it's because the numbers are ugly. Keep your resume updated and focus on your own projects—that’s the only strategy that actually pays off.
